What is the Jersey Devil?
Other than being New Jersey’s most infamous Cryptid Monster, the Jersey Devil is Mythicos Studios’ annual miniature painting competition.
12/11/2021 Jersey Devil Categories
Each Category will have a 1st, 2nd, and third place winner.
1) Single Miniature: Any single miniature that isn’t a monster, vehicle or large model.
Some examples: A Space Marine Captain, a Hero from Marvel Crisis Protocol, or a character from A Song of Ice and Fire.
2) Squad or Unit: A group of similar miniatures
Some examples: A unit of Space Marine Intercessors, a tray of A Song of Ice and Fire warriors, or a squad of Bolt Action soldiers.
3) Monster, Vehicle, Large Miniature: Either a Monster, Vehicle or large creature.
Some examples: A Space Marine Rhino, a Gargant from Age of Sigmar, or a Conquest Abomination.
4) Busts: Any bust is acceptable, if you have any questions about this category feel free to email us.
5) Diorama/Duels: A diorama made up of 1 or more miniatures on a display.
6) Armies on Display: A fully painted army on a display board.
7) Green Horn: Any aspiring painter under the age of 18 OR any painters who have never submitted a miniature to a painting competition.
This is based on the honor system, if you have submitted a miniature into a painting competition before please submit your entry into another appropriate category.
8) Mythic Americas: Any miniature, monster, squad or army from our own miniature game, Mythic Americas!
9) Best in Show: One entry picked by the Judges out of all entrees that they feel is the best submitted miniature.
Jersey Devil Trophies:
Everyone who attends will get a ‘jersey devil painting competition’ pin.
The top 3 selections in each category will earn a jersey devil trophy.

Supporting Judges
Amanda Kopet:
Amanda began painting in 2013. Started out painting board game pieces before moving onto warhammer and larger models. Taking classes is one of her favorite parts of conventions because “I love getting to learn new techniques and tricks and getting hands on teaching experience is the way that I learn best.”. She began entering work in painting competitions in 2018.
She has won, a Gold in Diorama in captaincon 2018, Silver in Journeyman single figure 2018 Nova Open, Everchosen Winner at 2019 Warhammer Everchosen in NYC, A silver medal in the Bust category of the 2019 Nova Open and has won 4 Jersey Devils in 2018 and 2019, as well as multiple Best Painted Army awards for her Sylvaneth.
Christopher holmes
Christopher has more than 30 years of painting experience, and has been a medalist at the Nova Open Crystal Brush as well as previous years winning Jersey Devil awards.

Tim Trentacoste
Tim Trentacoste has been painting miniatures for over twenty years and competitively for the last five. He was just recently promoted into the Masters Division. Some accomplishments to date include winning several medals at the Nova Open Capital Pallete including best in category. Tim took home the bronze in the heavy metal international event and two silver medals in the Miniature Figure Collectors of America (MFCA) event. He is a multiple time Armies on Parade winner as well as the Inner Circle event winner with Games Workshop, a one-time national event. Tim won best overall at Jersey Devil in 2019 but is excited to step into a judging role for this year’s event and moving forward.
Guest Judge: Martin Orlando
Martin is a globally recognized painter and has won multiple awards in both single categories and best painted armies. Martin has been in White Dwarf as well as spotlighted on Warhammer Community articles. He also is a staple of the Age of Sigmar community running tournaments locally and even at the Atlantic City Open.
Jersey Devil FAQ
Q: Where is the Jersey Devil Held?
A: Jersey Devil will be held at Mythicos Studios in Mahwah. 115 Franklin Turnpike Unit 2C, Mahwah, NJ 07430
Q: When is the Jersey Devil?
A: Every year on the second Saturday of December. This year it falls on 12/11/2021
Q: Can I enter more than 1 category? Can I enter the same category more than once?
A: Yes to both. However each entry still requires it’s own ticket.
Q: Can I submit a single figure and later have it judged in my army display submission?
A: Yes! Armies on Display will be judged after the other categories so that you will have a chance to assemble your display board for the judges.
Q: When can I drop off my miniatures?
A: Starting on Wednesday 12/08/2021 you can drop off the models you want judged. You can drop off entries up until 10:00AM on Saturday 12/11/2021.
Q: Do I have to stay for the whole judging?
A: No, you can simply drop off your entries before hand and collect them after the judging is complete!
Q: Can I bring my family or friends with me to look at all the entries?
A: Yes! Everyone is more than welcome to come look at what everyone has submitted. We request you wear a mask in the store as per store policy.
